Arend Grosfeld

Arend Grosfeld is a Harpscihordist focusing on baroque and modern music for historical instruments.  He has studied and worked with baroque specialists such as Sigiswald Kuijken, Peter Kooij and Philip Pickett. He has taken various masterclasses with Skip Sempé, Pierre Hantaï and Gustav Leonhardt. 

Arend studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. In Basel he specialized in Basso Continuo with Jörg-Andreas Bötticher, Andrea Marcon and Jesper Christensen. 

Arend Grosfeld performs regularly as a soloist and ensemble player of both early and modern music.  In September 2011 Arend performed at the international festival of Ambronay. Here he played Bach’s ‘Hohe Messe’ under the leadership of Sigiswald Kuijken touring across France, Italy and Portugal. He has also performed numerous concerts with the German baroque ensemble, ‘NeoBarock’ throughout Europe. 

Currently he teaches Basso Continuo at the National University of Arts in Seoul, South Korea. In addition to his musical activities he is also researching Korean traditional instruments in depth at the Academy of Korean Studies.
