Cathelijne N oorland (1983) started taking piano lessons with Frank Fahner at the age of eight. A t age ten she took lessons with Benno Pierweijer at the Conservatory of E nschede. She continued her studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Willem Brons and Mila Baslawskaja. I n 2007 she received her Bachelor’s Degree and in 2009 she finished the Master of Music program, specializing in chamber music.
Cathelijne received national and international prizes and is a laureate of the ‘Prinses Christina Competition’ (’98, ’99, ’01 and ’03), the ‘International S teinweg Wettbewerb Germany’, the ‘SJMN Competition’, the ‘International Charles Hennen Competition’ and the ‘Zonnewende Competition’. During the Prinses Christina Competition of 1999 and 2003 she received the ‘PRC Bouwcentrumprize’ awarded to the best accompanist. Together with Arno Stoffelsma and S askia Plagge she forms ‘Trio Burlesco’. This trio won the ‘Debuut’ concert series for 2006 which took them to all the main concert venues inthe Netherlands. In 2008 the trio won the audience-, the press- and the AVRO- prize at the ‘Silver Vriendenkrans Competition of the Concertgebouw’, which gave them the opportunity to record a CD. Cathelijne has participated in several master classes, both in- and outside T heNetherlands. Amongst others, her teachers were Menahem Pressler, Rudolf J ansen, Jan Wijn, Tan Crone, Rian de Waal, Joanna MacGregor, Stephen Kovacevich, Theo Olof, Stefan Metz, George Pieterson and Nobuko Imai. Cathelijne performs on a regular basis and can be heard on radio and TV , both in the Netherlandsand abroad.
