English-born oboist Celia Craig studied at The Purcell School, The University of York and the Royal Academy of Music and emigrated to Australia in 2006, serving as President, Australasian Double Reed Society, 2007-2013. Celia has worked closely with Bernstein, Boulez, Carter, Adams, Berio, Ashkenazy, Gergiev, Haitink and many others during her distinguished orchestral career before leaving UK for Australia with her family in 2006, and was appointed Principal Oboe of the Adelaide Symphony in 2011.
Celia has performed as a Soloist at the Proms and at the Barbican and with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber player, Celia has performed with The Australia Ensemble, London Chamber Players, Sydney Soloists, Jane’s Minstrels, and presented several recitals with Thomas Trotter, organ. Reviewers have described her as ‘eloquent’, ‘wonderful’, ‘beguiling’ and ‘charismatic’ with a ‘rich syrupy tone’.
