A New Angle is the 3rd album from Electronic Music group Empty Triangles on the Audio Define label. The group’s first album Empty Triangles (Exclusive NativeDSD Edition) won the 2021 NativeDSD Album of the Year Award for Electronic Music. All three albums from Empty Triangles are available at NativeDSD in exclusive DSD editions.

Recorded and mixed to Analog Tape on Teac X1000R and a Akai GX-1900D Analog Tape Reel to Reel recorders. The album was transferred from the Analog Master Tape (Recording the masters SM91 1/4 inch, 10 1/2 inch) at Alien Hourglass Studios, Australia, using a serviced Teac X1000R reel to reel.

The DSD transfer was done through a Tascam DA-3000 master recorder at Stereo DSD 128 (5.6 MHz). Several transfers were performed and compared to eliminate any chance of calibration issues. Additional adjustments, when required, we’re done using the Pyramix DSD Workstation from Merging Technologies.

Some of the tracking (most significantly Track 2 – PC Load Letter), was done digitally and composed with the multi tracker/sequencer application, impulse tracker on an old computer, running Windows 98. The output of the computer (the Sound Blaster Pro sound card, was routed into the mixing console for recording and light adjustments to the levels and EQ of the individual tracks.

Empty Triangles 2.0 (Exclusive NativeDSD Edition)

Empty Triangles, an Electronic Rock Band, returns to NativeDSD with Empty Triangles 2.0. Their debut Electronic Rock album, the self-titled Empty Triangles, received a wonderful response from NativeDSD listeners.

Empty Triangles 2.0 is a retro-inspired collection of electro-pop. It was recorded to Analog Tape using a collection of historic gear from the 80s and 90s to achieve that signature sound, whilst maintaining a modern production and vibe! It has been released through the ‘Same Great Sounds Productions’ sub-label.

Empty Triangles releases their debut self-titled Electronic Music album. It features 13 of the finest instrumental tracks that bend genres surrounding vaporwave, retrowave, and synthwave. This Electronic Music project from Audio Define aims to get the best sound out of classic hardware synthesizers.

The Exclusive NativeDSD Edition of Empty Triangles features a flat transfer of the instrumental self-titled debut album from the Original Analog Master Tape. All the DSD Bit Rates have been created in the DSD Domain by NativeDSD Mastering Engineer Tom Caulfield using the Signalyst HQ Player 4 Pro mastering tools.

Audio Define says “The result of this DSD release is drastically different from the digital release of the album available on streaming services and other digital stores. This edition is a NativeDSD Exclusive.”
