Heart of Brazil is a tribute to the music of world-renowned Brazilian composer and multi-instrumentalist Egberto Gismanti featuring famed Jazz Clarinet player Eddie Daniels.  The album from 2xHD and Resonance Records is the second at NativeDSD from Eddie Daniels.  It follows his earlier release Night Kisses, a tribute to the music of Ivan Lins.

The album features Daniels with the top-shelf trio of pianist Josh Nelson, bassist Kevin Axt and drummer Mauricio Zottarelli, plus the Grammy Award-winning Harlem Quartet. It is Exclusively Available in Stereo DSD 512 at NativeDSD thanks to our signature Higher Rates Program

With new arrangements by Ted Nash, Kuno Schmid and Josh Nelson, Heart of Brazil collects songs from Gismonti’s classic early 1970s albums on Odeon/EMI Records.

The album was produced by Resonance Records president George Klabin, who has long felt Gismonti’s work has been under-appreciated and deserving of wider recognition.

Gismonti says in his interview with acclaimed author James Gavin, “When I heard the record I felt immense joy…The repertoire spans a rich period of my composing. What a great present for my seventy years of life.”

Off the heels of 2018’s Grammy-nominated album, Heart of Brazil: The Music of Egberto Gismonti, comes Jazz Clarinet Icon Eddie Daniels‘ new project paying tribute to the world-renowned Brazilian musician and composer Ivan Lins called Night Kisses from 2xHD and Resonance Records.

Exclusively available in Stereo DSD 512 at NativeDSD thanks to our signature Higher Rates Program.

After Antonio Carlos Jobim, Lins is arguably the most successful Brazilian popular composer outside of Brazil. He was discovered in the 1980s by a host of American pop and jazz luminaries who seized upon the English versions of his songs reinterpreted by Barbra Streisand, Michael Buble, Sting, Sarah Vaughan, Patti Austin and countless others.

Night Kisses brings Daniels together with legendary jazz pianists Dave Grusin and Bob James, plus the top-shelf trio of pianist Josh Nelson, bassist Kevin Axt and drummer Mauricio Zottarelli, and the Grammy Award-winning Harlem Quartet.

With new arrangements by Kuno Schmid and Josh Nelson, Night Kisses collects songs from Ivan Lins classic albums released during the late’70s/early ‘80s period of his career. The album was produced by Resonance Records founder and co-president George Klabin with arrangements by pianists Josh Nelson, Kuno Schmid, Dave Grusin, and Bob James.

2xHD and Resonance Records present the Stereo DSD release of Smile, the first album by one of the most promising young Jazz Singers to emerge in years: Tawanda Suessbrich-Joaquim, known simply as Tawanda.

Exclusively available in Stereo DSD 512, DSD 256 and DSD 64 at NativeDSD.

The Los Angeles-based vocalist, 26, sings in a cloudless alto with a crystalline shimmer, effortless but unfussy jazz feeling, immaculate musicianship, and a maturity that few of her contemporaries possess. In June of 2021, Tawanda tied for first place with Gabrielle Cavassa in the 9th Annual Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, held in Newark, New Jersey. (The competition was originally slated to be held in 2020 but delayed due to Covid.

The winner of the 10th annual competition was also announced in 2021). Her performance — judged by a panel that included singers Carmen Lundy and Vanessa Rubin and bassist Christian McBride — was all the more impressive given that Tawanda had performed her first full show just a year before.

Smile was produced by Resonance Records founder and president George Klabin. Resonance is renowned both for its deluxe reissues of previously unreleased gems by Bill Evans, Wes Montgomery, John Coltrane, Stan Getz, and other greats; and for its new recordings by an impeccably chosen array of veterans and newcomers.

On Smile, Tawanda gives even the most time-honored standards a freshness that makes them sound new. She also finds the jazz in tunes recorded by Sting (“Sister Moon”), Donny Hathaway (“Sack Full of Dreams”), and Maureen McGovern (“Bring Back My Dreamer”).

Lifting her even higher are the elegant piano-playing and arrangements of two members of the Resonance family, Tamir Hendelman and Josh Nelson, both of whom have brought out the best in many a singer. Along with famed Jazz Guitarist Anthony Wilson, known for his work on albums by Diana Krall and albums at NativeDSD with Jacintha, Eden Atwood, Lauren White and his Jazz Ensemble – Our Gang, Savivity, Jack of Hearts and Power of Nine..

Tawanda, Vocals
Anthony Wilson, Guitar
Josh Nelson, Piano & Arrangements
Tamir Hendelman, Piano & Arrangements
