Maria Antonietta Cancellaro, а musicologist and harpsichordist, graduated from the University of Bologna in Music Disciplines. Having obtained her diploma in piano with Niccolo Parente, she further developed her study of the harpsichord with Emilia Fadini at the Scuola Musicale di Milano.
She then obtained the 2nd-level diploma in harpsichord with Andrea Coen at the Conservatory of Music in L’Aquila. She dedicates herself to the study of Renaissance and Baroque music, focusing mainly on the rediscovery of composers from Southern Italy.
In 200S she founded the vocal and instrumental group Le Vaghe Ninfe. With this group, as art director, harpsichordist and organist, she recorded the album Il Primo Libro delle Canzoni а 4 voci di Marc’Antonio Mazzone (Brilliant Classics, 2016).
At the Conservatorio “E.R. Duni” in Matera, she was а Professor of History and Aesthetics of Music and held the position of Director from 200S to 2008. She was the President of the Centro Carlo Levi in Matera from 2012 to 2018. She is currently the President of the Ars Nova Matera association.
