This recording is performed by a quartet of soloists from the orchestra Pratum Integrum, founded in Moscow in 2003. In translation from the Latin the name means ‘unmown meadow’ and refers to the previously unknown Baroque and Classical compositions which are the focus of their repertoire. Many Pratum Integrum musicians including Pavel Serbin, Sergei Filchenko, Dmitry Sinkovsky and Sergei Tischenko participate in chamber as well as orchestral concerts. These four soloists have performed many chamber compositions on period instruments for the first time in Russia, and introduced ensemble music by Anton Ferdinand Tietz and quartets by Antonio Rosetti, Joseph Martin Kraus and Joseph Wölfl to Russian audiences. Also in their repertoire are chamber works by German, Italian and French composers of the Baroque period, and late 18th-century Russian music. As leading soloists in the orchestra these musicians have taken part in all the Pratum Integrum recordings and played in concerts with Trevor Pinnock, Sigiswald and Wieland Kuijken, Paul Esswood, Alfredo Bernardini, and other eminent specialists in the performance of Early Music.
