Rob van Bavel

Rob van Bavel is a Jazz pianist. He was born on January 16, 1965 in the Netherlands. Rob is a Pianist, Educator, Composer and Arranger of Jazz (bebop – modern), Fusion and Classical Music.

He graduated in 1987 from the Rotterdam Conservatory with the highest possible mark (A with distinction). He has won several awards including Second Prize at the first Thelonious Monk Jazz Piano Competition in Washington D.C., Soloist Awards in Germany and Belgium, the Wessel Ilcken Award in Holland and the Dutch Grammy (Edison) for the album Rob van Bavel Trio.

van Bavel has appeared on more than 200 albums as a Studio Musician, Sideman and Leader. He has toured all over Europe, Canada, USA, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, South Korea and Siberia. Played regularly with Woody Shaw, Randy Brecker, Johnny Griffin and Gary Willis.

He has given several Master Classes in South Korea, Liechtenstein, Spain and Holland. He is also a Teacher at the Amsterdam Conservatory & the Royal Conservatory.
