Seigen Ono

Seigen Ono is a composer, recording artist, producer, recording and mastering engineer (DSD, surround sound with height) and architectural acoustics designer. During his 30 year career, he has worked as a producer and engineer for many projects with renowned artists including The Manhattan Transfer, Joe Jackson, King Crimson, Oscar Peterson, Jaco Pastorius, Arto Lindsay, John Zorn, David Sylvian, Ryuichi Sakamoto (Merry Christmas Mr.Lawrence), Sadao Watanabe and The Lounge Lizards. As a musician, he has performed solo and with ensemble at the Montreux Jazz Festival on multiple occasions. In 1991 he mixed the audio for Sony’s first 4K Video Concert presentation from the Montreux Jazz Festival. This included musical performances by Miles Davis with the Gil Evans Orchestra conducted by Quincy Jones, Elvis Costello and Rude Five, The B.B. King Blues Band, Dianne Reeves, Ray Charles, Chaka Khan, George Benson and Count Basie Orchestra, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Stanley Clarke, Omar Hakim, David Sanborn, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Deee Lite with Bootsy Collins, Gal Costa, Le Mystrere des voix Bulgares, and Henri Salvador. In 2004 Universal Music Japan released the Verve 60th Anniversary Supreme Sound Edition Series of classic Jazz albums on Super Audio CD. All of these albums were remastered by Seigen Ono at Saidera Mastering. This included Jazz albums by Stan Getz and Joao Gilberto, Bill Evans, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, Oscar Peterson, Wes Montgomery, Antonio Carlos Jobim and the Lester Young-Teddy Wilson Quartet. As a composer he has released a number of Super Audio CD albums and has also worked for various theater and dance companies including Jean-Christophe Maillot (Les Ballets de Monte Carlo) and Philippe Decouffle (DCA), was the director and composer for “Le petit ballets des Rolly”. Seigen is a strong advocate for high resolution DSD audio. He has been involved in R&D for high end pro audio technologies of digital audio equipment developed by Sony, Korg and Yamaha and was a key player in the launch of the first Stereo DSD 5.6 MHz streaming audio service over the Internet with PrimeSeat.
