]]>Misa Flamenca is a tribute to Pedro Soler, from whom Frédéric Tavernier-Vellas received this still active tradition that flamenco artists must create a Misa Flamenca at least once in their lives. The association of these cante flamenco repertoire songs with the Spanish tradition of church singing was evident. Meeting Kiko Ruiz, guitarist and composer, and the friendship with flamenco singer Matéo Cortès, allowed this new creation. It was first delivered at the Sylvanès International Festival in August 2019, and later recorded in Sylvanès abbey later that year in October.
“Living Flame of Love” may be the title of this creation, in which the liturgical devotion of ancient Hispanic chant embraces the legendary duende of the cante flamenco, this moment of blessing in which the artist goes beyond the limits of his art, looking for a mysterious higher dimension. This union is the sacred soul of Andalusia, interiorized for a deep and lively experience.
This Misa Flamenca is thus an original creation, rooted in the liturgical, musical, poetical, popular Andalusian tradition.
