The Visual Sound – The Sound Liaison Jazz Sampler features tracks from 10 of the label’s top Jazz recordings, made live with a studio audience. All 10 albums are also available at the NativeDSD Music store and are recommended if you want to take your DSD or DXD Jazz collection to the next level.

With our new sampler recording engineer Frans de Rond is proving once again that his knowledge of microphone placement and use of equipment is in a class of his own. He is able to create a sound stage, that projects an almost visual image of the musicians. A sound stage that is intimate but also has depth and space. The sound on the recordings presented here is like a three dimensional Van Gogh painting, where you can step in and take a look around.

All the albums were recorded in the legendary MCO Studio 2 in the building of the Dutch BroadCasting company. The studio has a deep warm sound with a beautiful natural decay, perfect for chamber music and jazz ensembles. MCO Studio 2 has remained in its original form since it was built in 1929.

Together with Abbey Road, it is one of the oldest recording studios in the world.

In the new DSD release Carmen Gomes Sings The Blues, Carmen Gomes Inc. with vocalist Carmen Gomes, guitarist Folker Tettero, bassist Peter Bjørnild and drummer Bert Kamsteeg deliver a Live Concert Performance of songs from the classic album “Harry Belafonte Sings The Blues”. It’s an album that influenced Gomes and we think you will enjoy her new performance of these memorable tracks.

“Normally when recording a live concert, I record the ”dress rehearsal” as well in order to have repair material just in case parts of the actual concert does not go as planned. However due to a technical failure, which I only managed to solve 10 minutes (!) before the start of the concert, this was no longer possible. So, this recording is all one-take!”
