This album is an emotional, passionate and profound tribute to my homeland. Yet I do not want to speak just for myself with my music. Every person has a homeland and connects with it very personal memories and feelings. Unfortunately a lot of people cannot live in their homeland or return to it at any time without any danger. The present floods of refugees speak for themselves. With regard to current events, I dedicate my compositions „FORCED TO FLEE MY HOMELAND” and “YOUR TEARS WILL DRY” to all refugees, who had to or still have to leave their homelands for various reasons.
– Martin Vatter, piano
Martin Vatter has developed the ability of merging his soul with that of his instrument. So it’s no wonder that his music reflects both his passion for the piano and his highly individualistic nature. His entire personality is directly translated into an expressive, powerful, sensitive and sensual style of playing. The elements of his music are just as diversified as the broad spectrum of the soul.
Described as neo-romantic piano music with many elements of classical piano music and with audible influences from Keith Jarrett and Ludovico Einaudi, this is sophisticated, virtuoso piano music that is a cross between classical music and jazz.
This recording was made in the legendary MPS-Studio in Villingen/Germany with a “Bösendorfer Imperial“ grand piano which sounds wonderful. Amongst others Friedrich Gulda and Oscar Peterson recorded their much acclaimed albums here.
This audiophile high end recording was done with nearly the same recording-situation and with the same and original Neumann-Microphones like the famous recordings from Oscar Peterson and Friedrich Gulda in the 1970s and 1980s.
