The music selected by Tina Chen Yi and Lars Hannibal for Melodies: Romantic Music for Violin and Guitar is the soundtrack for a daydream, or the twilight accompaniment for a romantic dinner. The emphasis is on Melody – beautiful, finely arched musical lines that reach beyond the pressures of everyday life and transport you, to a quiet realm of song.
With the romantic charm of the violin and the tender sounds of the guitar, a world of melody unfolds. There is an intimate quality to both instruments – their elegantly carved shapes reminiscent of the female form. When played together, their sounds complement each other – the endless song of the violin, accompanied by the gentle strumming of a guitar is the perfect serenade, their tender duet framed by silence.

Shar Music
Featuring gold medalist Chen Yi (Tina as she is known at Shar), this album showcases her talent on the violin. With works such as Massenet’s Meditation and Schubert’s Ave Maria this album is both relaxing and inspiring as you listen to her virtuoso performances.

Everything about this album is sublime. The melodies are incredibly beautiful and Chen Yi’s playing reached deep into my soul.
Lars Hannibal’s guitar playing is a wonderful complement to the violin and, quite often, his sound gave me the impression of a soft piano.
I was transported to a world of pure beauty for the whole album. Press play, sit back, close your eyes, relax and enjoy.
