The genres and styles of dance musc have changed greatly over time while the phenomenon of danse itself – a popular activity performed not only by professional dancers but by the common people – has hardly changed at all.
Centuries ago, and still now, the dance floor was a place for flirting and enjoying movement to music. Touching a lace-gloved hand in the course of a courante several hundred years ago probably made the dancers feel the same as holding their partner tightly dancing the lambada today.
“16 Century Discothèque” aims to take the gloss of seriousness and exclusivity off early music and bring it closer to the modern concept we know as ‘discothèque’.
