Here, we present Base2 Music’s first album featuring cellist Emilia Baranowska performing Bach’s Suites No. 1 in G major (BWV 1007) and No. 3 in C major (BWV 1009). This recording is available in two versions.

This is the DXD Concert Recording which was recorded in Stereo and 5 Channel Surround Sound at St. George’s Church in West Grinstead, West Sussex, in front of an audience of approximately 90 people. The sound was recorded in DXD 352.8 kHz sampling at 32 bits integer in multi-channel audio, which includes sounds from the audience.

The program is the same as the DSD Session Recording in Pure DSD 128 Stereo (which you can find HERE), but the interpretation is quite different. It is interesting to compare the private recording in a house with the live performance in a church.

(…) Emilia is a gifted musician with a respectable track record. That said, Bach aficionados, having already multiple sets of his Solo Suites on their shelves, will be looking for something that makes her reading stand out from the crowd. What struck me most during my listening tests and comparison sessions, was her style of playing; a style that concurs with the skilled sobriety of the Great Master. It kind of fits in with the chosen surroundings of a village parish church and a room in a stately country house. Though both are distinct, the common denominator is honesty. Emilia Baranowska’s performance is in my view best defined as a genuine display of sincere pureness. (…)
