This is quite an interesting combination of Spinet and Guitar, both plucking instruments but with different colors and sounds.
This is quite a long album. A good value and with a large collection of Chamber Music not written specifically for these instruments but worth listening to. Most of these pieces were written for Pianoforte and Guitar like the Diabelli or Carulli although the “lighter” Spinet gives to the dúo a freshness and direct expressivity.
The Beethoven was originally written for Mandolin and Pianoforte and the Wagenseil probably for Lute and Cembalo. I enjoyed the combination being very unusual but transparent and rich in color and versatility.
The music as the title describes as “galante” is charming and enjoyable all the way through. Great XIX Century Guitar Chamber Music played with taste and mastery. Excellent sound, balance and acoustics.
