In Chinese culture, the Dragon and the Phoenix are two of the most revered symbols of power and auspiciousness.  “Lung”, the Chinese dragon is unlike the evil dragon of the west.  It is gracious, wise, bold, intelligent, heroic, and noble, ruling the realm of water and bringing rain to sustain the earth.  The Phoenix “Feng Huang” is the king and queen of the birds, being both male and female.  When paired with the Dragon it is female and they represent the yin and the yang.

Ruling the air, the Phoenix symbolizes peace and prosperity and a constantly striving spirit.  Pictured together, they are used as a blessing in Chinese weddings.

2 reviews for The Dragon And The Phoenix [DSD Single]

All of my other cello recordings that I thought were great, now sound liken they have a cloud over them. I would love to have a Bach Cello Suite recording by the HR team. So sweet and alive. I can’t stop playing it.

The warm, gentle tones of Michael Kevin Jones’s Cello coupled with the quality of the recording brings out the peaceful joy of the music. A pleasure to listen to.
