This is a live performance from 1971 recorded in Monoaural. When HR Remastered started working on the audio files and remastering them they were quite impressed by the very unique and exciting energy: fresh, vital and romantic performance.
This masterpiece by Leoncavallo is super popular for a reason. It is extremely nostalgic, romantic and human. Again, this version has some special magic. It seems like that night everyone was touched! The director Pietro Mascheroni and tenor Pedro Lavirgen are at their best.
Please note that this album is part of the HD Remastered Historic series and is not a high resolution audio release. It was recorded live in Mono.

1 review for Riuggero Leoncavallo: I Pagliacci (Historic Monoaural Recording)

This Pagliacci is in Mono. Not only that, but it sounds like mono from 1951, not 1971.
There are some drops in level and other tape artifacts. It’s live, so you hear audience and stage noises. I enjoyed the performance but expected decent stereo sound. For historical recording enthusiasts only.
