The album presents the World Premier Recordings of the complete solo guitar compositions by Erik Marchelie. Erik Marchelie is the most important composer for the classical guitar in France and one of the most successful ones in Europe. His compositions are published by the most relevant editorials houses in France and Canada and his music has become very popular among guitar fans around the world.
Although his chamber music has been recorded – especially his cello and guitar pieces – his solo guitar pieces are presented here for the first time. Marchelie compositive unique personality will seduce the listener for his fresh and emotive language and above all his knowledge of the instrument.

I knew the Chamber Music by Erik Marchelie. The first recordings of Cello and Guitar music I bought from the Jones & Maruri duo had several pieces by Marchelie. It was a discovery because pieces like “Don Quijote y Dulcinea” or “Eclipse” prove the first class and grand category of music by Marchelie.
To discover this production is a great surprise to me. A full album with solo guitar music by Marchelie is unique. Marchelie is a guitarist and a composer. So these pieces are among the best new “classy” guitar music you can find this days. He has a strong composer personality. When you listen one of his compositions almost immediately you can say: it’s a Marchelie piece.
I am not a fan of Catherine Liolios playing but she is just right for these pieces. She plays a Dominique Field guitar, probably the best guitar maker right now in the world. The recording is superb.
