1 review for Manuel de Falla: La Vida Breve (Historic Recording)

I have been following this collection of remastered live operas with Pedro Lavirgen and other great singers from the 60s and 70s. It is an irregular series when it comes to sound quality if we are at NativeDSD for the best sound quality available in the digital music market today.

Having said that these recordings are really great for the fact that they are historical recordings, live recordings, and only that is for me a very important contribution. Some of them sound better than others. Some are just mono restored others are stereo and almost for sure most of them are probably amateur recordings done with who knows what equipment 50 years ago. For me what I really enjoy is the atmosphere. The performances are superb, and the historical value is very attractive.

This one in particular, Manuel de Falla’s “La vida breve” sounds pretty good. There are not that many recordings of this opera and I am almost certain this is the only one I know so far that is “live”. Beside the anthological one with the unique Victoria de Los Angeles, this version is becoming my favorite.

Pedro Lavirgen , Ángeles Gulin, Lucero Tena and Rafael Frübek are more than a reason to really enjoy this recording. On this one, the remastered audio job is fine.
