Francesco Paolo Tosti, the celebrated composer whose world fame went from being a very popular singer in Rome, to be the author of more than five hundred songs while in London, wrote “La Preghiera”,(The Prayer).
Published by Ricordi in 1880 it has become one of his most well known songs. Ulla and Bryden, presents to the audience with this particular piece, one the last examples of the castrati era
(Alessandro Moreschi, the last castrati, sung this “Preghiera” many times and even record it). Francesco Paolo Tosti dedicate it to ” the most gentle Lady Mary Massimo”, in her loving memory.
