Winners of the Pablo Sarasate and the ARD Competitions respectively, violinist Ana María Valderrama and pianist Víctor del Valle team up to offer a very personal and insightful rendition of two masterpieces in 19th century chamber music: Brahms’s Third Violin Sonata and Franck’s Violin Sonata. Two musical gems open and close the recording: Brahms’s Scherzo movement from the F.A.E. Sonata and Franck’s Mélancolie.

This is a Stereo and 5 Channel Surround Sound Pure DSD 256 recording. It is available in Pure DSD exclusively at Native DSD – both in the recorded Stereo and 5 Channel DSD 256 bit rates and in other DSD bit rates created in the DSD Domain using the Signalyst HQ Player 4 Pro mastering tools by NativeDSD Mastering Engineer Tom Caulfield.

Press reviews

MusicWeb International

“The inclusion of two rarely heard miniatures by these two composers as well as an absolutely first-rate recording quality, should make this release a most attractive proposition even in the crowded market of Brahms and Franck violin sonatas.[…] What Valderrama and Valle bring to this is a certain fiery intensity which underlines the music’s surprising maturity while breathing the very essence of youthful vigour.[…] throughout the entire performance there is a sense that these two musicians are casting the work not just in a new and unfamiliar light, but one which is very personal to them and therefore wholly convincing to us[…]”

Opusklassiek

“These two gifted Spanish musicians feel completely at home in this repertoire and know how to touch the listener.[…]There are many beautiful autumn colors to admire, but also a very lively lyricism in addition to the settled spirituality in the middle parts.”
