Tourist No. 1

Tourist No. 1 is an album from the Des Andras Quartet on Hunnia Records.  “In this music I discovered a concept of embracing the world. The themes feature music from Arab and Indian peoples, along with phrases based on Modern Mainstream Jazz.” (Gáspár Károly, jazzma.hu)

Des Andras says “Is our identity primarily determined by professionalism and vocation, important? One of my fellow musicians once called me “the greatest tourist”. Although jazz is not typically program music, the songs on this album might be considered as such, given that almost all of them have been composed on a specific subject, including stormy history, concern for the state of society, emigration, musical problems, and, of course, travel itself.”
