Mátyás Pince Restaurant (Matthias Cellar, founded in 1904) is one of the restaurants in Budapest with a very rich past, which has been serving its guests for 110 years in the heart of the city. Live Gipsy music is an integral part of the restaurant. We commemorate the 110th jubilee with a best of album of the 110 years compositions (Hungarian folk songs, gipsy songs, old Hungarian evergreens) performed by resident musicians, Vilmos Lakatos and his gipsy orchestra.
Mathias’ Cellar is a magical place, a Kingdom in itself, the population of which changes every night among the spicy dishes and the bottles riding on the waves of music.
– Pablo Neruda
Vilmos Lakatos: I started my studies at the world famous Rajkó Talentum School of Dance and Musical Art. When I was at early age I already gave more and more concerts, I played for the Swedish Royal family and the Rothschild family, and I performed at the Paris and Frankfurt Opera House for many years while I taught the violinists in Rajkó Orchestra. I have received the Silver Excellence Rood of the Hungarian Republic as a honour of my work in 2012. I have been playing in the Mátyás Pince Restaurant for three years now and I have had tremendous experiences. The guest can ask anything, a real violinist never says no. Nothing is as important as to be able to look into the guests’ heart.

Zoltán Lakatos – vocal, viola
Kálmán Tabányi – violin
Csaba Lukács – clarinet
