The Coquette Jazz Band is one of the best traditional Jazz groups in Vienna. The members of the band are based in Austria, taking an important part of the local Jazz scene. Even though they’re young, they are highly committed to perform the music of the last century at the best possible level and to keep its elegancy alive.
The band specializes in danceable swing music from the 1930’s, 40’s and the sound of the “Dixieland-revival” era. The Coquette Jazz Band plays innovative arrangements along with popular melodies from Count Basie, Fats Waller, John Kirby, Louis Armstrong, Jimmy Lunceford, Bobby Hackett, Benny Goodman, Bix Beiderbecke, Ruby Braff, Chick Webb, Ben Webster, Erroll Garner, Teddy Wilson, Jack Teagarden, Lester Young.
Thanks to the popular melodies the band can be a great introduction for jazz newcomers, and with also their experiences and finely tuned sound an impressive showcase to please longtime fans of the music.
Special Musical Guest Frank Roberscheuten says “I was pleasantly surprised to become acquainted with The Coquette Jazz Band, a formation of young musicians that continues to play this music style at a very high level. Based in Vienna, Austria, all the members of this group have mastered their instruments and listen to the pioneers of Jazz. This, combined with their excellent arrangements, enthusiasm and passion for the music, will assure them a place among the best Jazz bands in Europe.”
