On this album, Five Verses, we find five instrumental pieces inspired by texts by different authors that highlight the music-poetry binomial from the saxophone-piano or saxophone-electronics binomial.
This album is exclusively available in Stereo DSD 512, DSD 256, DSD 128 & DSD 64 at NativeDSD thanks to our signature Higher Rates Program.
Saxophone Player Carlos Zaragoza wanted to bring together in his first album a collection of “songs without words” from the 20th century. XX and XXI signed by André Caplet, Paul Hindemith, Orlando Bass, Vincent David and Luis Naón. On this album, he is accompanied by pianist Kishin Nagai.
The velvety timbre of the alto or soprano saxophone, the presence of air in the sound emission and the eminently lyrical writing of the five scores give an aura of vocality to all the performances.
Spanish Saxophonist Carlos Zaragoza is the winner of the 5th Andorra International Saxophone Competition in 2018 and currently a member of the Gaman Ensemble.
