Nova is a collection of beautiful choir music that highlights the unique choral sound of Kammerkoret Nova (Nova Chamber Choir).

The album is Exclusively Available in Stereo DSD 512, DSD 256, DSD 128, DSD 64 and DXD at NativeDSD.

For the choir, it was important to find a producer capable of capturing this uniqueness of expression away from the concert stage. The choice fell on producer Vegard Landaas, recording engineer Thomas Wolden, and their recording company Lawo Classics.

Vegard Landaas is an experienced musician with an ear for magical detail. Besides being one of Norway’s leading saxophonists, he has established himself as a highly regarded producer of classical recordings. In recent years he has collaborated with Thomas Wolden on a number of outstanding choral productions.

The music on this recording comprises a cross section of the repertoire of the Kammerkoret Nova (Nova Chamber Choir).chamber choir over the past two years.

It opens with the pieces “Water Night” and “Sleep” by the popular composer Eric Whitacre. The choir has also recorded Max Reger’s “Nachtlied” and Sergej Rakhmaninov’s “Bogoroditse Devo.” The composers Ola Gjeilo, Trond Kverno, and Francisco Guerrero are represented as well with their homages to the Virgin Mary. The recording features both sacred and secular works of Scandinavian composers, including Knut Nystedt, Alfred Janson, and Arne Mellnæs.

Press reviews

Our Land

Listen to NOVA and hear a top choir introduce itself. The intensity and presence are there, far up into the very fullest, and down into the beautiful and durable. The CD is equipped with text, information and comments in an exemplary manner.

Tønsberg Blad

Producer Vegard Landaas and sound engineer Thomas Wolden provide a crystal-clear frame with a perfect adaptation between the various elements. A wonderful choral work with qualities that are a pleasure to listen to while sitting in the good chair.

Aftenposten

Good-sounding choir! All in all, they sing well-polished and beautifully. The differentiation in the timbre convinces.
