Barokkanerne, together with recorder virtuoso Ingeborg Christophersen, take us to Venice, a pearl of the Adriatic, and for over a thousand years once one of the world’s most formidable bastions of power.
With a special focus on the recorder, this album highlights the music of Bassano, Castello, Galuppi, Legrenzi, Marini, Uccellini, and, especially, Vivaldi, who composed their works during the last 200 years of the maritime republic.
Vivaldi’s concertos for flautino with their breakneck speed are some of the most impressive works ever written for recorder and wonderfully represent Venetian prestezza — artists working at an astonishing tempo with brilliant and effortless awareness of classical form.
The album’s booklet features an introduction by author Vetle Lid Larssen entitled A Floating World.
