Tzumo Arpad is best known for his work with the Tzumo Jazz Trio. Here he takes a pause from the trio to bring us a solo album with a collection of Hungarian Folk Songs. Recorded in Stereo DSD 128, NativeDSD brings you this new release from My Reel Club in Stereo DSD 512, DSD 256, DSD 128, and DSD 64.
The album is a Pure DSD release at NativeDSD. It is available in Stereo DSD 64, DSD 128, DSD 256, and DSD 512. The DSD 64, DSD 256, and DSD 512 editions of the album were created by NativeDSD Mastering Engineer Tom Caulfield using Signalyst’s HQ Player Pro 4 Mastering Software.
My Reel Club says “When the recording was taken, we thought that the magical cleanliness and dynamics of the native DSD 128 format would stay here forever between the closed walls of the studio. Now the spirit has been released and thanks to Ferenc Koscsó (MyReelClub), Tom Caulfield (Mastering Engineer) and Native DSD Music, the DSD 256 Conversion is now available.”
Róbert Maloschik, Jazz Reviewer, JazzMa tells us “Before he sent me his recent album, I was a little scared. Tzumo and Hungarian folk songs? Then I started to listen to the disc. From the first track, my soul was delighted. I’m not a folk fan, but I listened to it three times in a row. In recent decades, a number of Hungarian jazz musicians had hard times with folk songs. There were some who played faster than the speed of light for their own sake, and some others had let their imagination take over, and left nothing from the original melody. Tzumo appends jazz harmonies to these well-known folk songs while maintaining the original feeling as well.”
