Apart from the great classical works written for Easter, there are few Easter albums on the market – seen at least in relation to Christmas recordings. There are probably many reasons for this: Easter in Norway means skiing and lunching on oranges and the dream of sunshine in the mountains, while Advent and Christmas are a time for domestic pursuits indoors. Christmas music is meant to create a Christmas mood; Easter music seldom puts us in the mood for Easter. The themes of Easter are so much more dramatic that many may not wish to be absorbed with this story; for while Christmas portrays the birth of a little child, Easter conveys so many more moods and feelings: from awe, festivity, and hope, via humiliation, disappointment, betrayal, anguish, and death, to victory, boundless jubilation, and stunning good tidings.
