Authenticity features a dash of 80s nostalgia, mixed with your dreams and ambitions, and topped off with a sprinkle of heavenly vocals and synthesizers. That’s the fabled recipe of HELIXIRx’s new album on AudioDefine.
HELIXIRx is inspired by the glorified hope of the 1980s. The music is composed by a lover of The Buggles, Georgio Moroder and Jan Hammer. Their debut release “Authenticity” is a pure tribute to the music of the 1980s and 1990s – with a modern twist!
Authenticity seamlessly combines retro pop music with vintage equipment fusing into the overall modern production. It is guaranteed to please the ears of all new romantic lovers and synthpop fans. Sit back and enjoy the dreamy vocals and the dreamy sound of HELIXIRx and their debut album Authenticity.

Notes | Flat transfer from RMGI SM900 tape using a freshly serviced TEAC X-1000R Reel-to-Reel system. Transferred at 2.8 MHz DSD (128) via Korg MR-2000. Minor level adjustments and trimming via Korg AudioGate. The conversion was performed twice with comparisons to ensure no faults during analog to digital transfer. Please note that whilst composition, recording and mixing was done using a hybrid of Direct Stream Digital recording and analog recording technology, vocal performances were recorded PCM prior to post-processing and mixing to RMGI SM900 tape using an Ampex MM-1200 system. |

This is a very enjoyable album to listen to. Missing is the fatiguing, narrow tunnel sounding audio emblematic of the limitations of 80’s technology. Added is layering of the synthesizers in a wide soundstage and realism of vocals. Cleo’s (believe that’s her name) voice is beautiful and mainstream sounding. I’m glad she chose to record in high definition and join the revolution to leave CD/MP3 quality technology where it belongs- in the PAST!

Fantastic if you enjoy synthpop. And a great introduction if you usually stick to other genres. The vocals complement the instrumentals perfectly.
