Sophisticated Lady is a quartet of young Jazz performers that first met during their graduate studies at the University of Southern California. Their music is rooted in the sounds, styles, and history of Jazz music.
The quartet’s first albums were recorded direct to Analog Tape by Bob Attiyeh at Yarlung Artists during performances at the Brain and Creativity Institute’s Cammilleri Hall at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Later these albums became among the first Analog Master Tape to Stereo DSD 256 releases at Native DSD Music.
Bob Attiyeh tells us “Yarlung makes recordings in concert halls, not studios. Our albums capture the sound of our musicians playing in real acoustic spaces. Yarlung recorded this album directly to two tracks of RMGI 468 analog tape running at 15 ips, with no mixer. We used the Hapi converter and Pyramix software from Merging Technologies in Switzerland to make these transfers to DSD. Our sincere thanks to George Klissarov and exaSound for making these releases possible.”
