Guitarist Joscho Stephan has been performing as a gypsy swing musician on national and international stages for decades. In a trio with Volker Kamp on double bass and Sven Jungbeck on rhythm guitar, he feels committed to the musical legacy of the Hot Club de France, the legendary formation that Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli brought to life in Paris in the 1930s.
In addition to his own pieces, the album also contains classics that are part of the standard repertoire of gypsy swing, and thus cover Paris as a musical metropolis of the swing era. Other tracks are a homage to Berlin. The finale is ‘Wes Berlin’ by Joscho Stephan, this little bow to Wes Montgomery concludes the journey from Paris to Berlin.
