Bar del Mattatoio by Seigen Ono from Saidera Mastering is an exciting fusion of Jazz, Classical, Tropicália, and Experimental music. Ono takes you to a place that is nearly tactile, sweaty, absolutely sensual, intellectually challenging, and maybe even a bit psychedelic while maintaining a delicate humanity that is shadowed with melancholy.
The album features composer, producer, guitarist, and pianist Seigen Ono joined by John Zorn, Arto Lindsay, Marc Ribot, Bobby Previte, Cyro Baptista, Roy Nathanson, and many other musicians.
Listening to ‘Bar del Mattatoio’ is a unique experience, and Seigen Ono immediately places us in a landscape both human and geographic that overflows with sensuality, sweetness and melancholy. This blend of intense pleasure in life and vague sadness at recognizing our inability to organize it — something Brazilians are perhaps known for — is captured here with extraordinary poetic aptness.
This 1994 Japan-only release is currently out of print and has become very hard to find on disc, but now we bring it to you in DSD Stereo, transferred from the Original Analog Tape by Seigen Ono at the Native DSD Music store.
